Hebrew Scenes From Popular Movies And TV Shows

Radar O'Reilly reciting the blessing in Hebrew for a bris over the shortwave radio while Father Mulcahy repeats each word and Hawkeye Pierce makes the cut?  Did it really happen?  Yes, it did, on an episode of M.A.S.H. in October 1974.

What do Radar O'Reilly, Krusty the Clown, John Wayne, and Kirk Douglas have in common?  They all spoke Hebrew in popular movies and TV series over the years.  Not much, but enough to make Jewish viewers kvell just a little.

Jacob Richman, a veteran collector and sharer of funny and educational Jewish and Hebrew video clips and other resources, posted this video on his web site last month.  It's a nostalgic look into the rear view mirror of film and television that is sure to awaken some memories of long forgotten episodes with Jewish content.  Enjoy!

Just in case you didn't identify all of the episodes, here is the list:

M.A.S.H.
The Simpsons (2 clips)
Wonder Years (2 clips)
Third Rock From the Sun

Private Benjamin
Defiance
The Frisco Kid (2 clips)

Fiddler on the Roof
Cast a Giant Shadow

NCIS (2 clips)
House
