But just because it's included in the Seder (though actually it isn't - along with Adir Hu and Chad Gadya, it appears after Nirtza, which concludes the formal Seder) doesn't make it holy, like many of the songs in the formal Seder (Kiddush, the other brachot, Birkat Hamazon, the Tehillim, etc.). Echad Me Yodea is a medieval folk-based song (based on other medieval counting madrigals) that first appeared in the Prague Haggadah of 1526 and became a table hymn. It has no kedusha. And you may not like modern dance (a concert performing art form that's been around since the early 20th century and has taken its place alongside the other performing art forms - opera, theater, ballet, symphony, etc.) because it reveals the human body (though not much more than classical ballet), just as some people don't like progressive jazz, avant-garde theatre, post-modern music or experimental film (also art forms that have been around since the 1920s). But that doesn't make this piece a strip tease. The gradual removal of clothing in the piece is a metaphor for shedding one's everyday outer appearance in an emotionally charged process to discover and reveal one's true self, one's essential core. Sorry if it's not your taste, but that doesn't make it an offensive strip tease.Fishel L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11485246459355623416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6849096789079758312.post-52473135104995858552017-09-13T13:01:00.963-04:002017-09-13T13:01:00.963-04:00This performance is not filth at all. The lyrics translated to English, express how everyone should be free physically, mentally and spiritually. This performance reflects and commemorates those who have been enslaved (which is a significant part of Jewish history - the Holocaust).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6849096789079758312.post-75131842830875315052015-03-23T18:49:28.890-04:002015-03-23T18:49:28.890-04:00I believe that the fully-clothed dancer who drops ...I believe that the fully-clothed dancer who drops to the floor each time "Echad Elokeynu..." is sung is collapsing in yirat HaShem. I ...sorry you saw this dance in the words you used. I disagree with your terminology. To me, an observant Jew it was not filth, not nice of you to knock Israelis who are non observant; certainly not a strip tease. What was it? A powerful dance. I wonder, cause I do not know, the meaning of the dancer who drops to the floor each time or the dancer who stands on the chair or the meaning of each gesture for the 13 "me yodeahs". Who knows? I would like to know more before I cast such negativity. How about you?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6849096789079758312.post-87701733282030097722015-03-22T09:50:57.635-04:002015-03-22T09:50:57.635-04:00You think they wore black suits in ancient Israel?...You think they wore black suits in ancient Israel?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11291110705171298369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6849096789079758312.post-6443450718924967522015-03-22T09:49:16.003-04:002015-03-22T09:49:16.003-04:00Maybe they should.Maybe they should.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11291110705171298369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6849096789079758312.post-75774943931710723722015-03-22T09:25:16.140-04:002015-03-22T09:25:16.140-04:00Disgusting filth that only secular and anti-religi...Disgusting filth that only secular and anti-religious Israelis could present.
Taking a holy song from the Pesach Haggadah and using it for a strip tease show is beneath contempt.
Muslims and Christians would degrade their religion with such depravitySB233noreply@blogger.com
