"A Woman Goes to the Doctor...": The Funny Old Jokes of Lou Mason
Yes, we said Lou Mason, not Jackie Mason. Apparently he wasn't a relative of the master of Jewish comedy, but back in the 1970s he was making regular appearances in the Catskills and releasing records (those funny-looking round pieces of black plastic) filled with Jewish jokes.
This week we unearthed a collection of jokes told on one of Mason's records that we thought you'd like to hear. It's four jokes delivered in a rapid-fire style, all with the common theme of funny interactions in the doctor-patient relationship.
Information about Lou Mason is not easy to find, but we did find a blog in which the readers, challenged to come up with details about his life, confirmed that Mason was frequently on stage at the Lebowitz Pine View Hotel in Fallsburg, New York in the 1970s.
Enjoy!
