Welcoming Shabbat with Yedid Nefesh at Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus in North Miami Beach

Today we welcome Shabbat with Annie singing Yedid Nefesh at Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus, a Conservative synagogue in North Miami Beach, Florida. 

There is a custom to sing Yedid Nefesh between Mincha (afternoon prayer) on Friday and the beginning of Kabbalat Shabbat (literally: receiving or greeting the Sabbath—a collection of psalms usually sung to welcome in the Shabbat Queen. This custom is believed to have begun in the second half of the 20th century.
