A Joke to Start the Week - "Sir Abe and the British Empire"

It's another Monday, and time for another Joke to Start the Week.

Today's jokester is Sheldon Horowitz, an adjunct professor whom we ran into  last week when we were performing at the annual Camp Hazak week in the Catskills.

The camp, which was held at the newly refurbished Honor's Haven Resort and Spa in Ellenville, New York, attracted a group of seniors, mostly from Hazak groups at Conservative synagogues from up and down the east coast. Sheldon had previously given us a few jokes at another Hazak retreat six years ago at Kutsher's hotel.

Here's the setup: Abe Goldberg is this British Jew. He's born in poverty, but he's intelligent, he's hard working, and he has ambition. So he pulls himself up from poverty, he goes from strength to strength, he becomes a captain of industry, he becomes a great philanthropist, and does great things for the empire. And then...

Enjoy!

    1. The punchline was "Vat's de matter? Ve lost India!"
After dressing up as a British soldier he feels that he represents the British empire and takes the loss of India personally.
