Comedy Showcase: Wendy Liebman Shares What It's Like Being a Woman on "America's Got Talent"

Wendy Liebman has been performing stand-up comedy for more than 20 years. We like her style. It's mostly clean and reminds us of Rita Rudner, another of our favorites.

Wendy has been called the master of the one-liner with subliminal afterthought. Her distinctive style includes quick, clever follow-ups after her jokes. She starts the joke leading it to one direction then changes it. As in "This Thanksgiving I made a 28 pound turkey ... pot pie," or "I really like to shop....lift."

She has appeared at comedy clubs and most of the late night TV shows. According to her website, she counts among her accomplishments the American Comedy Award for Best Female Standup in 1996, and clue #23 down in a New York Magazine crossword puzzle in 2010.

In this video Wendy appears on America's Got Talent and talks about being a woman comedian.

Enjoy!

Dan has also made several appearances on The Tonight Show, The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Orthodox Jewish Beatboxers Surprise Judges on "America's Got Talent"

Two Orthodox Jewish boys got a big ovation from the audience attending auditions for "America's Got Talent" last month. Their beatboxing performance was praised as cute and unusual. Unfortunately they were eliminated in the next round.

As Jesse Bernstein wrote in Tablet,
Beatboxing duo and friends Ilan Swartz-Brownstein and Joshua Shlomo Mendel Leviton made a smart choice to call themselves “Ilan and Josh,” because their full names are a mouthful even for members of the Tribe, let alone Gentiles.
Though they “don’t look like your typical beatboxers,” as stated during the duo’s audition on America’s Got Talent, make no mistake: these young men can flat-out spit. Tuesday’s performance was received with thunderous applause from the audience and four “yes” votes from the celebrity judges.
Based in New York, Ilan and Josh met a few years ago at the Kotel. From there, they hit it off. Leviton, who also calls himself “The Orthobox,” provides the beat (he’s even performed with The Maccabeats); meanwhile, Brownstein (aka “The Aleph Bass”), an aspiring religious singer, spits the tune to their creations.
You may find their sound familiar because they previously provided beatbox background sounds for the Maccabeats and the Y-Studs, two a cappella groups that we have featured on Jewish Humor Central.

Enjoy!

Old Jews Pulling Cars: 93-Year-Old Mike Greenstein Pulls 3500 lb. Car with His Teeth

Last year 93-year-old Mike Greenstein astonished an America's Got Talent studio audience and hundreds of watchers on the street outside when he pulled a 3,500 pound car occupied by his brother, his brother's wife, and his girlfriend across a finish line using only his teeth.

Greenstein, who goes by the name Mighty Atom Jr., inherited his talent from his father, Joseph Greenstein, known as The Mighty Atom. His life is chronicled in a book called The Mighty Atom: The Life and Times of Joseph L. Greenstein; Biography of a Superhuman.

Joseph Greenstein was a strongman in an era of strongmen who performed in the 1930s and 1940s. He was a devout Jew and a fundraiser for charitable causes. His son continued his record of feats of incredible strength.
