Throwback Thursday Comedy Special: Alan King and Johnny Carson Talk About Bad Food and Bad Restaurants

Today we're turning the calendar back 38 years to 1985 when Alan King and Johnny Carson talked about their experiences with bad food served in bad restaurants.

The conversation was triggered by King giving Carson a copy of his newly published book, "Is Salami and Eggs Better than Sex?"

Alan King appeared on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show a total of 73 times. He was a frequent guest on the show and often appeared as a guest host. King was a well-known comedian and actor who was popular in the 1950s and 1960s, and his appearances on the Tonight Show helped to solidify his status as one of the greats of his time.

Enjoy!

It's another Throwback Thursday and we're turning the calendar back to 1988 when Jackie Mason made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Topics included his Broadway show, his films and records, why he never got married, soup vs. sex, cars as status symbols, and New York vs. Hollywood.

Comedy Special: Jewish Comedian Ariel Elias Parries Beer Can Attack, Debuts Act on Jimmy Kimmel Show

Early in October, standup comedian Ariel Elias was performing at Uncle Vinnie's Comedy Club in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. In the middle of her set, a member of the audience threw a beer can at her. When it bounced off the wall, she calmly picked it up and drank what was left in the can.

When the video of the incident went viral, it caught the attention of Jimmy Kimmel, who then invited her to make her late night debut on his show.

Here is the video of her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, including the beer-throwing incident and her funny tale of growing up as a Jew in Kentucky.

Enjoy!

Comedian Sarah Silverman Says There's No Christmas Without Jews

In an interview last week with Seth Meyers on his Late Night Show, comedian Sarah Silverman talked about her new TV series Santa Inc. and all the ways that many Jews have come together to create it.

The series, starring Seth Rogen as Santa Claus, airs on HBO Max starting December 2.

In the interview, Silverman notes that every Christmas song you love was written by a Jewish composer. She also tosses out a few funny one-liners like "It's about the birth of the nicest Jewish boy ever", "Jews are disappointed that he became a Messiah and not a doctor" and "Elves are Jews because they can work on Christmas."

Enjoy!

Late Night Comedy: Conan O'Brien Goes to Shul

Conan O'Brien, the Irish late night talk show host, doesn't go to shul. That's not exactly breaking news. But in one of his early shows, two Jewish men showed up and asked him why they haven't seen him in shul lately. "What?" he responded. "What's shul?" That's the beginning of a routine that brings a very unusual shul to the stage of the TV studio.

And Conan does finally go to this shul. Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday Comedy Special: Jon Stewart's Stand-up Network Debut in 1992

Jon Stewart is best known for hosting The Daily Show from 1999 to 2015. But before achieving fame as a political satirist, he was a stand-up comedian.

Two years after his college graduation in 1984, Stewart (who changed his name from Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz) started a stand-up comedy career with many late night sessions at The Bitter End and The Comedy Cellar.

Stewart felt his career did not take off until his March 1992 network debut on NBC's Late Night with David Letterman.

On this Throwback Thursday, let's set the clock back 26 years to a video of that appearance.

Enjoy!
