Israeli-born and Texas-raised comedian Avi Liberman has been bringing groups of stand-up comics to Israel for years to support the Koby Mandell Foundation. And we've featured some of them here on Jewish Humor Central. But Avi has some great stand-up routines that he performs on his own, and whenever we find one, we try to share it with you. Here's a recent performance by Avi at the City Winery in New York City where he presents a hilarious description of all the Jewish Holidays to a mixed Jewish audience comprising all levels of observance. Enjoy! A SPECIAL NOTE FOR NEW EMAIL SUBSCRIBERS:

Regular readers of Jewish Humor Central know all about Comedy For Koby. During the seven years that we've been blogging here, we've posted seven videos about the show that comedian Avi Liberman brings to Israel twice a year. Liberman has
been bringing groups of American comedians to Israel since 2002 to
raise money for multiple charities, most recently for the Koby Mandell
Foundation, which works on behalf of terror victims' families. The foundation is named after
the 13-year-old who was murdered by terrorists near his Tekoa home on May 8, 2001.
This week Comedy For Koby is coming to Bergen County, New Jersey. The show will be held on Saturday Night, November 12, 2016, at 8pm, at
Congregation Keter Torah in Teaneck. The outstanding lineup features some of America's top comedians: Butch
Bradley, Ryan Hamilton and Dan Naturman, and hosted by Avi Liberman. The
event will be preceded by a wine and dessert reception.
In December Liberman is bringing the show to six cities in Israel. In this video, The Big Falafel's Molly Livingstone interviews Avi Liberman before the show that he produced in Israel earlier this year. Enjoy! (A SPECIAL NOTE FOR NEW EMAIL SUBSCRIBERS:

Avi Liberman spends a lot of time recruiting American stand-up comics to travel to Israel with him twice a year to perform comedy shows in support for the Koby Mandell Foundation. We have posted excerpts of some of the shows over the last few years featuring a variety of comedians that Avi accompanied to Israel, most of them visiting Israel for the first time. But the Israeli-born and Texas-raised Liberman is a stand-up comedian on his own, and his family-friendly performances have special appeal to Jewish audiences. Here is one of his routines, as delivered to a very responsive Jewish audience at the City Winery in New York, explaining Jewish holidays to gentiles, and making funny observations about flying to Israel and buying Marzipan rugelach in the market. Enjoy!

Twice every year since 2002 Los Angeles comedian Avi Liberman brings a new group of three stand-up comedians from the US to major cities in Israel. That's where they are now, completing their current tour with performances Sunday in Gush Etzion, Monday in Jerusalem, and Tuesday in Tel Aviv.
Comedy for Koby has become a fundraising vehicle to support the Koby Mandell Foundation, which was started in 2001 by Rabbi Seth and Sherri Mandell, the parents of Koby Mandell, who with his friend Yosef Ishran
was brutally murdered by terrorists near their home in Israel. The foundation provides a Jewish response to the
impact of terror and tragedy— helping bereaved mothers, fathers, widows,
orphans and siblings re-build their lives, and create meaning out of
suffering. Here's a video report on last December's version of Comedy for Koby. The comedians performing this week, in addition to Liberman, are Modi, Joe Matarese, and Brian Kiley. Enjoy!

Bobby Slayton has been performing politically incorrect stand-up comedy for over 30 years. In comedy clubs and on TV shows, he has been know as the "Pit Bull of Comedy" and "Yid Vicious." This week Slayton is in Israel as one of four comedians performing on stages in Gush Etzion, Raanana, Modiin, Tel Aviv, Beit Shemesh, and Jerusalem in the bi-annual Comedy for Koby tour organized by Los Angeles comedian Avi Liberman. The tour has been operating in Israel since 2002, with new stand-up comedians performing every year. Comedy for Koby has become a fundraising vehicle to support the Koby Mandell Foundation, which was started in 2001 by Rabbi Seth and Sherri Mandell, the parents of Koby Mandell, who with his friend Yosef Ishran

Programs bridge the isolation children and adults experience
after the loss of a loved one. The emotional, physical, and spiritual
healing process in the program engenders a support network for grieving
families. Here's a preview of Slayton's stand-up comedy that will be seen by audiences throughout Israel between June 5 and June 12. Enjoy!

Avi Liberman, a Los Angeles-based stand-up comic, has been bringing groups of American comedians to Israel since 2002 to raise money for multiple charities, most recently for the Koby Mandell Foundation, which works on behalf of terror victims' families.
The foundation is named after
the 13-year-old who was murdered by terrorists near his Tekoa home on May 8, 2001.
This week Liberman is back in Israel with comics Roy Wood Jr., Andrew Norelli, and Dan Naturman. The comedians have appeared on the Conan, Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman, and Craig Ferguson late night TV shows. As David Brinn reported in The Jerusalem Post,
Whatever the benefactor or gravity of the cause, the common element in
all of the tours Liberman continues to organize is sheer laughter – from
equal-opportunity jokes aimed at Israelis, American Jews and everything
in between.
One such joke from Liberman: “I love to going to Marzipan
bakery in Jerusalem for the chocolate rugelach. This last time, they
were out of the air-sealed plastic containers. The guy said he’d put
them in cardboard boxes and if he closes them really tight, it would be
the same thing. I told him it wouldn’t, and he said he’d been doing this
for 15 years and knew what he was talking about. So apparently, if you
are Israeli and have been doing something for a long time, you can defy
the laws of physics.”
Or, “LA has such a large Jewish community
that they actually have a Yeshiva Day School Basketball league. I don’t
think that’s morally or ethically correct, because it instills these
kids with a false sense of athletic ability.”
The Winter 2013 Comedy for Koby tour kicked off yesterday in Beit Shemesh. Other
shows: Saturday, December 7 in Gush Etzion
– 8:30 p.m., Matnas Gush Etzion; Sunday, December 8 in Jerusalem – two
shows: 7 and 9:30 p.m., Beit Shmuel; Tuesday, December 10 in Tel Aviv –
8:30 p.m, Tzavta; Wednesday, December 11 in Ra’anana - 8:30 p.m., Yad
Labanim; Thursday, December 12 in Modi’in – 8 p.m., Einan Theater.
We'll be attending the 7 p.m. show Sunday night in Jerusalem and talking with Avi between shows. So if you're in Jerusalem, why not get tickets online and shmooze with us after the show. Here's a report from Israel21C on a 2011 tour that includes a few jokes and interviews with Avi Liberman and the comics that he brought over to Israel. Enjoy! He has presented more than 100 programs in South Florida and the Northeast on topics that include the great comedians and entertainers of the 20th century, funniest moments in film and television, flash mobs around the world, and composers and lyricists of the Great American Songbook.
