Comedy Special: Jewish Comedian Ariel Elias Parries Beer Can Attack, Debuts Act on Jimmy Kimmel Show

Early in October, standup comedian Ariel Elias was performing at Uncle Vinnie's Comedy Club in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. In the middle of her set, a member of the audience threw a beer can at her. When it bounced off the wall, she calmly picked it up and drank what was left in the can.

When the video of the incident went viral, it caught the attention of Jimmy Kimmel, who then invited her to make her late night debut on his show.

Here is the video of her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, including the beer-throwing incident and her funny tale of growing up as a Jew in Kentucky.

Enjoy!

Jimmy Kimmel Plays "Jewish Holiday or Prescription Medication" with His Late Night Audience

Late night show host Jimmy Kimmel likes to play guessing games with his audience by going out into the street and asking questions of random people.

In December Kimmel ventured outside his studio and asked a contestant to guess if a word he pronounced was a Jewish holiday or a prescription medication.

How do you think Tu Bishvat, Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Purim, and Tisha B'Av were identified? Jewish holiday or prescription medication? Watch the video to find out!

Enjoy!

Jimmy Kimmel Asks Kids on the Street What They Know About Chanukah

Last week on the second night of Chanukah late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel took to the streets of New York to ask random kids questions about Chanukah.

Most children who don't celebrate Chanukah are familiar with the story of Christmas, but they are less educated about the miracle of Chanukah. So Jimmy's crew went out on the street and asked kids who don't celebrate Hanukkah to tell us what they know about it.

- What is Chanukah?
- Have you heard of Jewish people?
- Why doesn't Santa bring any of the Jewish kids toys?
- Can you spell Hanukkah?
- Would you like to meet a Jewish person?
- Do you know any Hanukkah songs?

Enjoy the last day of Chanukah!

Jon Stewart Crashes Jimmy Kimmel's Interview with Bar Mitzvah Kid

When kids have their Bar or Bat Mitzvah they often have some kind of theme. Last week fans of the late night show Jimmy Kimmel Live were treated to an inside look at the Bar Mitzvah of a young man from Media, Pennsylvania named Will Rubin.

Will's Bar Mitzvah was Jimmy Kimmel Live themed, so Jimmy invited Will onto the show where he was surprised by none other than former TV host Jon Stewart.

Stewart's walk-on was warmly welcomed by the studio audience as he added an extra Jewish dimension to the proceedings.

Enjoy!

Chanucorn (The Chanukah Unicorn) Makes Appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Show

Last week Jimmy Kimmel's late night show was invaded by Gary, one of his Jewish writers, dressed as the Chanucorn, a unicorn with a menorah horn.

Gary is always trying to get Chanukah related bits on the show, so last year he created the 'Chanucorn.' Just in time for the holiday, Gary's favorite creation tries to turn Jimmy's show into a prime time Chanukah special.

Get ready for some shmoozing, kibitzing, and even a little mishegas as Gary and Jimmy engage in banter using just about every popular Jewish expression you can think of. The sketch includes singer Joey Fatone and (seeing is believing) the one and only Dreidel Dog.

Enjoy!

"Trumped" Takeoff on "The Producers" - Love Him or Hate Him, You'll Love This Parody

Mel Brooks didn't know what he started when he created the Broadway and Hollywood hit musical and movie The Producers.

Late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel has taken the show and created a hilarious parody, tying it to the Republican primary contest that's playing on our TV screens every day and night.

Of course the bigger than life center of the parody is presidential candidate Donald Trump. Whether you're for him or against him, you should find the satire very funny. As we said when we posted the Bernie Sanders bad lip reading video last week, Jewish Humor Central generally avoids political humor, but this one was just too funny to resist. Like the original musical, this parody includes a few choice Yiddish words.

As Daniel Kreps wrote in Rolling Stone,
The Producers stars Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane reunited for Jimmy Kimmel's post-Oscars special to appear in a trailer for a faux-sequel to their hit musical. "Just in time for the election, it's a story that starts off funny then gets really, really depressing," the trailer warns of Trumped, which finds the two producers hopping aboard the runaway train known as Donald Trump.

"Max, do you realize that under the right circumstances it might be possible for us to make more money from a losing candidate than from a winner? First we find a bad candidate, then we raise money like crazy and we promise all the donors an ambassadorship, to Italy or Sweden or Armenia," Broderick's Bloom proposes, planting the seed of the Trump campaign.

Jimmy Kimmel Plays "Hipster or Hasidic" Game With His Audience Again

Back in November 2012, late night show host Jimmy Kimmel introduced a new audience participation game show called "Hipster or Hasidic." We called our readers' attention to it then, but it has since been purged from YouTube. So we were happy to see that Kimmel played the game again with his studio audience last Thursday and posted it to YouTube.

Why "Hipster or Hasidic?" Because the Hasidic enclave of Williamsburg in Brooklyn has in recent years seen an influx of artists and musicians who tend to have a hipster look. What the men in both groups share is the avoidance of cutting their facial hair.

Shooting video closeups of faces of Brooklyn residents, focusing on the beard and mustache, and then panning out to see the whole person, Kimmel asked whether the audience thought the subject was a hipster or a Hasidic Jew.
It was all in good clean fun, and the hipsters and Hasidim seemed to be enjoying themselves. One bearded participant turned out to be a little of both hipster and Hasidic, and one surprised the audience by being in a third category.

We played the game, and got half of the eight right. One really fooled us.
So try your luck and play the game. How many did you get right?

Two Jewish Boys Help Fallen Sponge Bob in Prank on Jimmy Kimmel Show

Jimmy Kimmel, the late night TV talk show host, periodically plays a game with unsuspecting people on the street called How Long. It's a social experiment to see how much time goes by between someone falling down in the street in obvious distresss and a kind bystander coming to their rescue .

For this experiment, an actor who regularly wears a SpongeBob SquarePants costume on Hollywood Boulevard suddenly collapsed in the middle of his act and lay on his back calling out that he's fallen and can't get up.

The countdown timer ticks off the seconds and minutes as runners jump over him and one man pauses to take a photo of the fallen character with his smartphone. Lots of people pass by without offering help.

Finally after almost seven minutes, a pair of young Jewish boys wearing black kippot and hoodies walk by and help SpongeBob to his feet. Then, joined by two of their friends, the group of five launches into a Hava Nagila song and dance. Kimmel comments "It's turning into a Bar Mitzvah out there."

Enjoy!
