"Jewish Matchmaking", a New TV Series, is Now Streaming on Netflix

Jewish matchmaking has come to streaming TV in the form of an eight part series released on Netflix this week. All episodes are online now so you can binge if you want to.

As the host of Jewish Matchmaking on Netflix, Aleeza Ben Shalom adapts the model of Orthodox arranged matches to Jewish singles from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds, including secular, Reform and Conservative Jews from across the United States and Israel.

As Jackie Hajdenberg writes for JTA,

The Jews cast on the show are all in different places in their lives, some grieving serious breakups or committed to specific religious identities, some picky about looks or hoping their partner will be OK with riding motorcycles. Some of them are looking for particular Jewish commitments to concepts such as tikkun olam, which means “repairing the world” and has come to represent a social justice imperative for many liberal Jews; others want to be sure they’re matched only with people who share their approaches to observing Shabbat and keeping kosher.

New Streaming Platform "Izzy" Joins Netflix, Hulu with All-Israeli Films and TV

If you've run out of new films and series to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu, and you're looking for some new content from Israel, here's some good news.

A new streaming platform called "Izzy" has just made its debut, with all Israeli shows and films.

As Jessica Steinberg wrote in The Times of Israel,

“Shtisel,” “Fauda,” “The Baker and the Beauty, “When Heroes Fly” — these are some of the binge-worthy Israeli shows that have happily made it to Netflix.

There are other local shows and films that have not reached the global platform, but are worth watching. And now that content may become available on Izzy Stream Israel

Izzy is the new media content platform created by 30-year-old Josh Hoffman, a Los Angeleno immigrant who came to Israel on Birthright, was introduced to Tel Aviv, and never left.

The for-profit platform charges $4.99 a month, and has gathered 5,000 viewers since its May 21 launch, said Hoffman. He is hoping to double that figure each month.

The streaming service currently offers more than 100 titles, including feature-length films, shorts, and documentaries. It can be accessed on your smart TV, computer, smartphone, tablet, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire, Chromecast, and more.

According to Izzy's promotional material, the service is like “if Netflix and Israel had a baby,”

Enjoy!

"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" Season 3 Has Arrived on Amazon Prime

With most TV channels covering the news coming daily out of Washington, you may not have noticed that over the weekend, Amazon Prime has unloaded another full season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It's a breath of fresh air that takes us back to simpler times.

Eight hour-long episodes of the highly anticipated third season of the widely acclaimed portrayal of a Jewish family in New York in the 1950s and 1960s is now streaming on Amazon Prime. All of the main characters are back, and we get to relive Jewish life in New York 60 years ago.

In the first episode Midge performs at a USO show with White Christmas as the closing number. She quickly realizes that she doesn't know the words. Her manager Susie learns the ins and outs of contract negotiation. Abe and Rose grapple with their new financial situation, and Joel finds the perfect spot for his new club until he discovers that the space isn't as it appears.

Here's the trailer for the new season.
