Prayer for the State of Israel from the Yiddishpiel Production of Dvash Nigar - With Shai Abramson

Yiddishpiel – The Yiddish Theater in Israel – is the only Yiddish theater in Israel!

Yiddishpiel was established in 1987 with the mission of restoring to Yiddish, the language that had almost disappeared, its charm, its popularity, and its glory, and to make it the focus of a rich and significant culture that is an important foundation stone in the history of the Jewish nation.

Last October, Yiddishpiel presented a show called Dvash Nigar (Flowing Honey) which included the Prayer for the State of Israel (Avinu Shebashamayim). It was sung by Shai Abramson, Chief Cantor of the Israel Defense Forces, Sasi Keshet, Israeli actor and Yiddishpiel's Artistic Director, and singer/performer Kobi Arieli.

Welcoming Shabbat with Avinu Shebashamaim by the Moscow Male Jewish a Cappella Choir

Avinu Shebashamaim, the Prayer for the State of Israel, is usually sung in the Shabbat morning service. It is also sung at special days, such as Yom HaAtzmaut, and other days when congregations unite to show support for the State of Israel and the people of Israel.

As we get ready for Shabbat, let's watch Alexander Tsaliuk conduct the Moscow Male a Cappella Choir singing Avinu Shebashamaim at a performance a few days ago to commemorate Yom Hazikaron and Yom HaAtzmaut. The concert was at the Memorial Synagogue on Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow with soloists Cantor Uriel Granat and Vladislav Ayrapetyan.

Enjoy, and Shabbat shalom!

Three a Cappella Groups Unite to Sing Prayer for Welfare of State of Israel

When words fail, as they often have after the events of the past weeks, we turn to song and prayer.

This week three of the most popular Jewish a cappella groups -- The Maccabeats, Six13, and J-Studs -- have combined their voices to perform Avinu SheBashamayim, the Prayer for the Welfare of the State of Israel.

Sending comfort to the bereaved, wishes for a speedy return of the hostages, and prayers for the safety for our brave brothers and sisters called up to protect Eretz Yisrael. Am Yisrael Chai!

Celebrating Israel's 75th Independence Day with Rabotai a Cappella Group

Rabotai (meaning gentlemen) is a fresh and exciting Jewish a cappella group comprised of energetic vocal talent and professional beatboxing.

Coming from different corners of the world, its members found each other in Israel, where they are rapidly becoming a sought after group to entertain audiences big and small. They specialize in mixing classical Jewish songs with modern pop.

Today we're celebrating Israel's 75th Independence Day by sharing Rabotai's mashup of Hatikvah and the prayer for the State of Israel that they recorded for Israel's 70th Independence Day in 2018.

Wishing you a very happy Yom Haatzmaut!
