Throwback Thursday Comedy Special: Stewie Stone Reminisces on a Life in Comedy

Stewie Stone is a classic Catskills comedy performer who is still doing his shtick in Florida and wherever Jewish audiences can be found.

Stone is living proof that you can take the kid out of Brooklyn, but you can't take Brooklyn out of the kid. Even his name, Stewie, comes direct from Flatbush. "In Brooklyn," he explains, "we're very big on vowels. We put 'E's at the end of everything -- Hermie, Frankie, Stewie. "

Stone started as a drummer for New York bands, became a midweek entertainer at the Concord Hotel in the Catskills, and worked his way up to being the opening act for Paul Anka, Frankie Avalon, Dionne Warwick, Ben Vereen, Bobby Vinton, Sonny & Cher, and Engelbert Humperdinck in Las Vegas.

Dave Konig and Brent Katz created a short film  'Stewie Stone: In One', based on the life and comedy of Stewie Stone. In the film, Stone reminisces about his life in stand-up comedy.

Enjoy!

Eating Twinkies with God - A Modern Day Parable by Meir Kay

Filmmaker Meir Kay created a parable called Eating Twinkies with God, starring a young boy named John James Cronin. A Catholic school kindergartener and an Orthodox Jewish filmmaker. It's an unusual team, but one that has created a stir in the blogosphere.

In the film, the boy takes a package of Twinkies from his kitchen and heads out, as he explains to his mother, to find God. And then......

The moral of the story: We don't need to look for and wide for God. He's in every one of us and in every thing that we do. Whether you believe or not, we all can agree that by helping each other, each good act that we do makes this world a brighter place. Let us rise to the occasion and be kinder to each other, to help one another. We are all on the same team.

Fox 5's Dar Alexander spoke to the two of them about the meaning of this heart-warming short film.

Here's the short film, followed by the TV interview.

Enjoy!

Midweek Joke Bonus: "Did You Hear the One About...?" Five Priest and Rabbi Jokes in Five Minutes

"A priest and a rabbi walk into a bar" or a car or just about anyplace else. That's the way a whole genre of jokes begins. Most of them are old and you've probably heard most of them. But they can still bring a laugh.

Some of our readers have been asking for more jokes in addition to our Monday "Joke to Start the Week" feature. So here we go with a midweek joke...actually a series of five of them.

Actors Ron Rogge and Warren Davis unleash a barrage of Priest and Rabbi jokes in various settings, at home, in a pool, and finally at the wedding that they've been looking forward to all week.

The film was produced as an entry in the 48 Hour Film Project, an annual team competition to write, produce, and edit a short video from 7 pm Friday to 7 pm Sunday.

Enjoy!
