Turbulence on El Al with Revital - Kosher Comedy by Zehavit Rosenbloom

Zehavit Rosenbloom is a mom with seven children who is performing standup comedy and recording videos for Jewish audiences. She has created many Jewish characters including ultra religious Rebbetzins, secular Israelis, and El Al representatives who put passengers through intensive interrogations before letting them board planes.

She calls her comedy routines Zeya Comedy and we plan to share some more of her sketches in future Jewish Humor Central posts. Today Zehavit is back with another impersonation of Revital -- a nosy, annoying El Al flight attendant in action.

Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday Comedy Showcase: Jackie Mason Does His Ed Sullivan Imitation on the Ed Sullivan Show

Today we're continuing our tribute to legendary comedian Jackie Mason, who died two weeks ago. While his humor didn't appeal to all, and made some people uncomfortable, there's no denying that he was funny and topical in his political incorrectness.

Mason had a special insight into societal trends, attitudes and actions that defied common sense. His matter-of-fact observations played out to large appreciative audiences on highly rated TV shows such as The Ed Sullivan Show.

His appearance on the show almost cost him his career when he gestured to Sullivan in a way that Sullivan interpreted as obscene. But two years later they reconciled and Mason appeared on the show to give an inspired impersonation of Sullivan strutting around the stage.

Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday Comedy Special: Mel Brooks Impersonates Bogart, Cagney, Sinatra on Dick Cavett Show

Mel Brooks is famous for producing, directing, acting, and doing stand-up comedy, but we don't usually think of him as a singer or impersonator.

Back in 1970 Mel appeared on The Dick Cavett Show doing impressions of Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, and Frank Sinatra. The Sinatra bit was an impersonation of Frank singing America the Beautiful.

So let's set the clock back 47 years to see Mel in his younger days doing a few celebrity impressions.

Enjoy!

Classic Comedy Moments: Andy Kaufman's First Appearance as Elvis on the Johnny Carson Show

Andy Kaufman was an eccentric comedian and as he liked to call himself, a performance artist.

One of his most beloved characters was known as "Foreign Man." In that role he was introduced as an impressionist.

He would do a few very bad impressions, setting a low level of expectation from his audience. Then announcing that he will imitate "The Elvis Presley," he turned his back to the audience, made a few changes to his appearance, and launched into what is probably the best Elvis impression ever seen.

Last year we posted a tribute to Kaufman on his 30th Yahrzeit that included his famous "Mighty Mouse" routine that he performed on Saturday Night Live's first show, and  a full (23 minute long) episode of Taxi where as Latka Gravas, he marries his girlfriend Simka in a hilarious wedding ceremony that's a sendup of all ethnic ritual ceremonies. Both of these hilarious videos are worth a second look.

Enjoy and Shabbat shalom!
