Welcoming Shabbat on the Beach with Mizmor Shir at Community Synagogue of Rye

The Community Synagogue of Rye, a Reform synagogue, offers a variety of musical worship experiences, featuring the Choir, Koleinu (Jr. Choir), T'filah Band and Teen Band.

Every summer they conduct Shabbat services on nearby Oakland Beach. It's a family friendly musical Shabbat service on the beach. Young families (children up to age five) can join a special summer sharing Shabbat, followed by a pizza dinner. After the main service, adults can stay for light refreshments and wine, followed by fireworks.

This year's services were held on June 28 and July 19, with another one coming up on August 28.

Here is a video excerpt of last year's Shabbat on the Beach, with Cantor Melanie Cooperman, Rabbi Leora Frankel, and Rabbi Daniel Gropper singing Mizmor Shir Lyom HaShabbat.

Enjoy, and Shabbat shalom!
